One in three conifers is threatened

34% of conifers are threatened according to the IUCN Red List. Climate change is the main cause for this threat. By educating others about conifers I wish to raise more attention to this problem and emphasize what a shame it would be to lose such remarkable and fascinating plants.

More than just a christmas tree or hedge

When most people hear the word ‘conifer’, they think of a Christmas tree or a hedge. Frankly, there is a whole other world these people miss out on. To me, a world of beautiful colours, rediculous shapes, astounding sizes and unfathomable ages rests behind this word. By sharing my own projects and interests, I wish to spread this enthousiasm for conifers.

A never-ending work in progress

There is still a lot to learn and research, when it comes to the world of conifers. Taxonomy changes, new species get discovered, knowledge expands and new cultivars get developed. This database will hopefully help concentrate conifer knowledge in a cohesive and user friendly way.
