Etymology
Podocarpus refers to ‘foot fruit’; indicating the fleshy receptacle and seed complex, found in Podocarpus species.
gibbsiae refers to the plant collector L. S. Gibbs, who studied the flora of Mount Kinabalu where this species is found.
