Etymology
Araucaria refers to ‘Araucania’, the region where A. araucana is found and its indigenous people (Mapuche) are also similarly called ‘Araucanians’.
biramulata “refers to the characteristic twice-branched character vegetative twigs” according to its author.

Habitat
The natural habitats for Araucaria biramulata are subtropical/tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical/tropical moist montane forests. It is naturally found at an elevation of at least 1000 up to 1000 metres. There are no conifers associated with Araucaria biramulata that are known of.
